Mounting Brackets for Exterior/Indoor Roller Shades: A Comprehensive Guide

Note 1: The mounting brackets can be installed horizontally or vertically, depending on the fixture used to install the shades. After determining the location to install the mounting brackets, use the bracket as a template to mark the hole positions for pre-drilling holes in the surface for the insertion of plastic anchors.

Note 2: If the medium onto which the brackets will be mounted is solid wood, plastic anchors are not necessary. You can directly install the brackets with just screws, if desired. For other mediums, such as concrete or stone, anchors are required. After the holes are drilled, insert the plastic anchors into the holes until they are flush with the surface. If needed, lightly tap the anchors into the holes with a hammer. Then, attach the brackets to the surface with screws.

Note 3: For Mounting Vertically, remove the four screws from both brackets. Turn the Clutch Unit 90 degrees so the clutch eyelet hangs straight down if the Clutch were hanging from the top, and turn the Idle End Unit so the opening is facing away from the window. Put the screws back in.

Note 4: The final step is to install bracket holders for the bungee cord and ring that is tied to the ends of the shade. This is used to help tie down the shade during windy conditions. Install the bracket at a side location, like with the mounting brackets. Ensure that each bracket is at least 6 feet from the top of the shade and can be reached by the bungee cord. Insert the ring into the bracket to secure it.

Note 5: For an Alternative Clutch Setup, remove the four screws. Turn the Clutch Unit 180 degrees so the wand eyelet can now hang down from the left side. Put the screws back in and tighten. No change is needed to the Idle End Unit, as it works for both right and left mounts. Also, pull out both End Plugs from the tube and switch them.
